Background

Crushcrushcrush was made available in the United Kingdom for download on November 5, 2007 and purchase on November 26, 2007. The single is also playable on various music video games such as Rock Band, Rock Band Unplugged, Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades, and Ultimate Band. The single won a Teen Choice Award for "Best Rock Track." It was also used briefly in NCIS (TV series), in episode 05x12- Stakeout. The song was certified Gold in the United States on September 17, 2008.

During live performances of the song, as a joke, Hayley is often known to start singing the chorus from 'Low' by Flo Rida during the bridge of the song, when she sings "I need something to sing about."

Lyrics

I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
           Keeping them here
And it makes no sense at all

           They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
           You little spies

           They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
           You little spies

           Crush, crush, crush
           Crush, crush
           (Two, three, four)

           Nothing compares to
           A quiet evening alone
           Just the one, two
           I was just counting on

           That never happens
           I guess I'm dreaming again
           Let's be more than this

If you want to play it like a game
Well, come on, come on, let's play
'Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute

           They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
           You little spies

           They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
           You little spies

           Crush, crush, crush
           Crush, crush
           (Two, three, four)

           I was just counting on

           That never happens
           I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this now

           Rock and roll, baby
           Don't you know
           That we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about

           Rock and roll, hey
           Don't you know, baby
           We're all alone now?
I need something to sing about

           Rock and roll, hey
           Don't you know, baby
           We're all alone now?
Give me something to sing about

           Nothing compares to
           A quiet evening alone
           Just the one, two
           I was just counting on

           That never happens
           I guess I'm dreaming again
           Let's be more than
           No, oh

           Nothing compares to
           A quiet evening alone
           Just the one, two
           I was just counting on

           That never happens

Music Video

The music video shows the band performing in a barren desert environment, and three people spying on them with binoculars from a distance. The three voyeurs watch from behind various old trinkets that have formed a faux house without walls or a roof. Intercut between Paramore's performance of the song are clips of the band walking through the

voyeur's "house" and later on, short clips show that Paramore and the bandits watching them are the same (Hayley in the bathtub, Josh and Jeremy playing/slamming their guitars and Zac pushing his stands over and throwing drums). The three men then destroy all of the equipment.
